A healthy and balanced living climate
A good interior climate includes good ventilation, appropriate humidity levels and correct heating. Correct and adequate ventilation can prevent mould formation in rooms. In this regard there are differences both in the type of ventilation and in room use. Rooms should be ventilated regularly depending on their function and levels of use.
Window ventilation
Window ventilation – correct and efficient ventilation means either opening the window fully or not at all. Tilt ventilation should be avoided. In addition there should be intense ventilation several times a day for a period of four to ten minutes, because the colder the air outside is, the faster the air in the rooms is exchanged.
Houseplants are also good for the indoor climate. Because of their photosynthetic metabolism they extract carbon dioxide from the air and release oxygen. Particularly good plants are, for example, aloe vera, spider plants, Dracaena or Ficus benjamina.
The correct room temperature depends greatly on individual needs. Some people like it cooler, others nice and warm. But rooms that are too cold or too warm lead to discomfort. That is why it is important to find the appropriate temperature for personal well-being.
Our tip: if you are not at home during the day, turn the heating down a little to save heating costs. If you are away from home for a longer period, adjust the heating to fifteen degrees. It is not advisable to keep changing the room temperature for short periods, because changing the temperature from cool to warm uses more energy. By contrast, longer continuous reduction times are to be recommended. Rooms should not be too cool or too warm.
The ideal humidity levels in rooms should be around 45%. Above 60% encourages mould formation.
